Our previous study detected single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in GDF9 and BMP15 genes associated with litter size in Black Bengal, Bangladesh's primary native goat breed. However, Jamunapari and crossbred goats in Bangladesh are yet to be investigated for litter size-associated polymorphisms. In this study, we screened Jamunapari and crossbred (50% Black Bengal × 50% Jamunapari) goats to identify polymorphisms in the GDF9 and BMP15 genes and to assess the association between identified SNPs and litter size. The genomic DNA from 100 female goats (50 Jamunapari and 50 crossbred) was used in polymerase chain reactions (PCRs) to amplify exon 2 of the GDF9 and exon 2 of the BMP15 genes. PCR products were sequenced employing the BigDye Terminator cycle sequencing protocol to identify SNPs. We used a generalized linear model to perform the association analysis for identified SNPs and litter size. Seven SNPs were identified, of which four, C818CT, G1073A, G1189A, and G1330T, were in the GDF9 gene and three, G616T, G735A, and G811A, were in the BMP15 gene. Therefore, the G1330T loci could be useful as a marker in marker-assisted selection for litter size traits in goats of Bangladesh.We recorded spontaneous extracellular action potentials (eAPs) from rat chromaffin cells (CCs) at 37 °C using microelectrode arrays (MEAs) and compared them with intracellularly recorded APs (iAPs) through conventional patch clamp recordings at 22 °C. We show the existence of two distinct firing modes on MEAs a ~ 4 Hz irregular continuous firing and a frequent intermittent firing mode where periods of high-intraburst frequency (~ 8 Hz) of ~ 7 s duration are interrupted by silent periods of ~ 12 s. eAPs occurred either as negative- or positive-going signals depending on the contact between cell and microelectrode either predominantly controlled by junction-membrane ion channels (negative-going) or capacitive/ohmic coupling (positive-going). Negative-going eAPs were found to represent the trajectory of the Na+, Ca2+, and K+ currents passing through the cell area in tight contact with the microelectrode during an AP (point-contact junction). The inward Nav component of eAPs was blocked by TTX in a dose-dependent manner (IC50 ~ 10 nM) while the outward component was strongly attenuated by the BK channel blocker paxilline (200 nM) or TEA (5 mM). The SK channel blocker apamin (200 nM) had no effect on eAPs. Inward Nav and Cav currents were well-resolved after block of Kv and BK channels or in cells showing no evident outward K+ currents. Hence, we implemented parallel pharmacophore screening of 11,808 DrugBank compounds against RAF and MEK. ADHRR and DHHRR were modeled as a pharmacophore hypothesis for RAF and MEK respectively. Importantly, these hypotheses resulted an AUC value of > 0.90 with the external data set. As a result of phase screening, glide docking, and prime-MM/GBSA scoring, it is determined that DB08424 and DB08907 have the best chances of acting as multi-kinase inhibitors. We developed guidelines for duodenal cancer because this disease is considered to have a high medical need from both healthcare providers and patients for appropriate management. These guidelines were developed for use in actual clinical practice for patients suspected of having non-ampullary duodenal epithelial malignancy and for patients diagnosed with non-ampullary duodenal epithelial malignancy. In this study, a practice algorithm was developed in accordance with the Minds Practice Guideline Development Manual 2017, and Clinical Questions were set for each area of epidemiology and diagnosis, endoscopic treatment, surgical treatment, and chemotherapy. A draft recommendation was developed through a literature search and systematic review, followed by a vote on the recommendations. We made decisions based on actual clinical practice such that the level of evidence would not be the sole determinant of the recommendation. This guideline is the most standard guideline as of the time of preparation. It is important to decide how to handle each case in consultation with patients and their family, the treating physician, and other medical personnel, considering the actual situation at the facility (and the characteristics of the patient). Salvage endoscopic therapy, including endoscopic resection (ER) and photodynamic therapy (PDT), is effective for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in local failure after chemoradiotherapy (CRT). Resection with pathologically vertical margin-negative (VM0) for ER and local complete response (L-CR) for PDT are important surrogate prognostic markers for each therapy's efficacy. We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in predicting the efficacy of salvage endoscopic therapy in local failure after CRT for ESCC. We included patients who underwent EUS followed by ER or PDT for local failure after CRT or radiotherapy for ESCC from 2006 to 2020. We evaluated EUS findings associated with VM0 resection for ER and L-CR for PDT, which included the status of the outermost part of the submucosal layer, tumor thickness, and tumor invasion length into the muscularis propria (MP) layer. Thirty and 47 patients were enrolled into the ER and PDT groups, respectively. The VM0 resection rate in the ER group was 87% (26/30). The EUS findings associated with VM0 resection were tumor thickness < 2.3mm (p = 0.01) and preserved hyperechoic line of the outermost part of the submucosa layer (p < 0.01). The L-CR rate in the PDT group was 69% (32/47). The EUS findings associated with L-CR were tumor thickness < 5.0mm (p < 0.01) and tumor invasion length into the MP layer < 1.6mm (p = 0.03). The PS most commonly occurs in small cell lung carcinoma but also in association with other respiratory tract tumors, gynecological tumors, and hematological malignancies. The PS can precede a tumor diagnosis, therefore timely diagnosis can improve the prognosis of a malignant disease. The diagnostics are based on the clinical presentation as well as diagnostic methods depending on the underlying pathogenesis. The most important treatment approach involves the best possible treatment of the tumor and a targeted treatment is only sometimes possible. This review focuses on the clinically most frequently encountered PS. The aim of the present study was to describe and compare the features of the buccal peri-implant mucosa to natural gingiva in the aesthetic area. Forty-nine periodontally healthy patients were included in this cross-sectional study. Mucosal and gingival dimensions at the mid-facial aspect were evaluated clinically and radiographically. Color assessments were performed using a reflectance spectrophotometer, and patient aesthetic satisfaction was further checked. Implant sites revealed significant thicker mucosa when compared to tooth sites both at 1.5 (p < 0.001) and 3mm (p < 0.001) apical to the mucosal margin. Both conventional and digital methods presented a good reliability. The spectrophotometric data revealed a statistically significant color difference between the peri-implant mucosa and the gingiva. However, there was no further significant relation between these color changes and the mucosal thickness. Peri-implant mucosa revealed a darkish, greenish, and bluish discoloration when compared to the gingiva. More satisfactory patient´s aesthetic evaluation was reported in sites with thicker and comparatively lighter mucosa when compared to the adjacent dentition. To assess the influence of estrogen deficiency on tooth eruption rate (TER) and gene expression of estrogen receptor alpha and beta (ERα and ERβ) in the odontogenic region of teeth with continuous formation in a rat model. Ovariectomies (OVX; n = 25) and sham surgeries (SHAM; n = 25) were performed in female Wistar rats when animals were 25days old. The TER of the lower incisors, both in impeded (hyperfunction condition) and unimpeded (trimmed incisal edge-hypofunction condition) conditions, was evaluated using standardized digital photographs acquired every 48-72h for 3weeks (35th-53rd day of life), using a camera coupled to a stereomicroscope. Quantitative real-time PCR was performed to evaluate the relative gene expression of ERα and ERβ in the odontogenic region.
