We anticipate this study would be a helpful information for prescribing herbal medicines and researching the safety of herbs. Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been used as additional treatments for infertility or as an adjuvant treatment of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in infertility. Many systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MA) have been published. This paper reviews the SRs and MA of acupuncture and herbal medicine on infertility to provide evidence for clinical decision making. A comprehensive literature search of SRs and MA for the effects of acupuncture and herbal medicine on infertility was conducted using nine databases. Two independent reviewers extracted the data of the selected SR and MA and evaluated their methodological quality using the 'Assessment of multiple systematic reviews 2 (AMSTAR2)'. Twenty-one studies were included in this analysis. Eight studies were published in China, and three studies each were published in the USA, UK, and Australia. Conflicting evidence on the efficacy of acupuncture for infertile women has been reported. Herbal medicine for infertile women undergoing ART, women with anovulation, and women with polycystic ovary syndrome helped improve the clinical pregnancy rate. The methodological quality of SRs and MAs evaluated by AMSTAR 2 was low or very low because the protocol or list of excluded studies were omitted. Herbal medicine tended to be effective in infertility, but acupuncture had low evidence of an effect on infertility. The methodological quality of the published SRs and MAs was underestimated because AMSTAR2 is a more rigorous assessment tool than the previous version.Herbal medicine tended to be effective in infertility, but acupuncture had low evidence of an effect on infertility. Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) is one of the most common causes of shoulder pain, and acupuncture treatment is widely used as treatment. However, no studies have examined image-guided acupuncture for SIS. This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of low-dose X-ray guided acupuncture (LA) in patients with SIS. A total of 54 patients with SIS were randomly allocated to the LA group and the conventional acupuncture (CA) group. Two acupuncture treatment sessions were conducted for a week, and follow up was conducted after three weeks. The primary outcome was pain intensity measured by the visual analogue scale (VAS) during the Neer and Hawkins test. The incidence rate of shoulder impingement sign, the modified Constant-Murley score (CMS) and the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) were assessed as other outcomes. All indicators were assessed at baseline and after one week and three weeks. For safety evaluation, adverse events were monitored in both groups. The change in pain during the Neer test after one week from baseline was more significant in the LA group than in the CA group ( =0.008). However, the Hawkins test did not show a difference between the two groups. The incidence rate of shoulder impingement sign and the changes in CMS and SPADI were not significantly different between the two groups at one week, but after three weeks, SPADI was more significantly improved in the LA group ( =0.024). No adverse events were related to this trial. LA was more effective than CA in relieving pain and improving function in terms of VAS and SPADI. Low back pain (LBP) is expected to globally affect up to 80% of individuals at some point during their lifetime. While conventional LBP therapies are effective, they may result in adverse side-effects. It is thus common for patients to seek information about complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) online to either supplement or even replace their conventional LBP care. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/jnk-inhibitor-viii.html The present study sought to assess the quality of web-based consumer health information available at the intersection of LBP and CAM. We searched Google using six unique search terms across four English-speaking countries. Eligible websites contained consumer health information in the context of CAM for LBP. We used the DISCERN instrument, which consists of a standardized scoring system with a Likert scale from one to five across 16 questions, to conduct a quality assessment of websites. Across 480 websites identified, 32 were deemed eligible and assessed using the DISCERN instrument. The mean overall rating across all websites 3.47 (SD=0.70); Summed DISCERN scores across all websites ranged from 25.5-68.0, with a mean of 53.25 (SD=10.41); the mean overall rating across all websites 3.47 (SD=0.70). Most websites reported the benefits of numerous CAM treatment options and provided relevant information for the target audience clearly, but did not adequately report the risks or adverse side-effects adequately. Despite some high-quality resources identified, our findings highlight the varying quality of consumer health information available online at the intersection of LBP and CAM. Healthcare providers should be involved in the guidance of patients' online information-seeking.Despite some high-quality resources identified, our findings highlight the varying quality of consumer health information available online at the intersection of LBP and CAM. This study aimed to record and analyze the experiences of infertile women who underwent acupuncture treatment. This is a qualitative study in which in-depth interviews were conducted with women who underwent acupuncture as a treatment for infertility from the viewpoint of phenomenology, a method of understanding human behavior in the general human and social context, and grasping the nature of the experience in depth. The study participants were 12 women who had been receiving acupuncture treatment for infertility for more than 3 months. After analyzing the statements of the participants' experiences, the main concerns regarding infertility were "embarrassed by unexpected infertility," "overwhelmed with negative feelings," "blocking and defense," "sex as a duty," and "repeatition of expectations and failures." Significant statements regarding acupuncture treatments were "body warmth," "becoming a body," "care of the mind," "last trust and hope," and "difficulties of waiting." The experience with supporter was love-hate relationships, and the experience of the children's meaning was expressed as "precious beings in life." The results of this study suggest that acupuncture treatment for infertility in women results in positive thinking through changes in the body as well as through increased hope. Participants experienced a feeling of warmth in their bodies, regular menstrual cycle, and reduced fatigue through acupuncture treatment, indicating a state of psychological stability. The results of this study suggest that acupuncture treatment for infertility in women results in positive thinking through changes in the body as well as through increased hope. Traditional medicine (TM) is widely used in South Korea and Taiwan, and both societies have similar systems for the management of TM. This study aimed to compare the TM systems in South Korea and Taiwan. We searched for studies on the TM systems and collected statistical data from the websites of relevant government agencies in both countries. Interviews were conducted with experts on TM and officials from government agencies. The two TM systems were described and examined in terms of policies, resources, utilization, licensing, and educational systems. Both South Korea and Taiwan have a dual system that separates the administration, licensing and educational systems between TM and Western Medicine (WM), and the TM systems are well established and highly standardized. Comparing with South Korea, however, Taiwan has a more flexible dual medical system in which education courses for producing dual licensure are provided. Additionally, in the system in Taiwan, dual license holders can use both TM and WM methods without limitations and WM doctors can apply acupuncture under some circumstances. Because of the strict dual medical system in South Korea, TM and WM conflict with each other on most health issues. Both South Korea and Taiwan have the advantages of preserving TM, as TM and WM are systemically independent and together provide a more holistic approach. The institutionalization of TM in South Korea and Taiwan may be a good reference for countries considering modernization of their TM.Both South Korea and Taiwan have the advantages of preserving TM, as TM and WM are systemically independent and together provide a more holistic approach. Despite the importance of accurate Sasang type diagnosis, a unique form of Korean medicine, there have been concerns about consistency among diagnoses. We investigate a data-driven integrative diagnostic model by applying machine learning to a multicenter clinical dataset with comprehensive features. Extremely randomized trees (ERT), support vector machines, multinomial logistic regression, and K-nearest neighbor were applied, and performances were evaluated by cross-validation. The feature importance of the classifier was analyzed to understand which information is crucial in diagnosis. The ERT classifier showed the highest performance, with an overall f1 score of 0.60±0.060. The feature classes of body measurement, personality, general information, and cold-heat were more decisive than others in classifying Sasang types. Costal angle was the most informative feature. In pairwise classification, we found Sasang type-dependent distinctions that body measurement features played a key role in TE-SE and TE-SY datasets, while personality and cold-heat features showed importance in SE-SY dataset. Current study investigated a comprehensive diagnostic model for Sasang type using machine learning and achieved better performance than previous studies. This study helps data-driven decision making in clinics by revealing key features contributing to the Sasang type diagnosis.Current study investigated a comprehensive diagnostic model for Sasang type using machine learning and achieved better performance than previous studies. Traditional East Asian Medical (TEAM) practice systems exhibit much variation. Little work has been done to study reasons for this variation. This essay explores cultural and historical explanations for how variety occurs by contrasting the use of two TEAM concepts in diagnosis in Chinese and Japanese systems. Focussing on two important concepts, (heart) and (spirit), a literature review is performed to contrast how they developed, are understood and used in diagnosis in Chinese Traditional Chinese medicine, TCM, and Japanese Meridian Therapy, MT. While TCM texts describe many heart-related diagnoses, MT texts do not describe any. While TCM associates ' ' with the mind and emotions coupled with associated diagnoses, MT does neither. Historical and cultural reasons for these differences are identified. In light of these findings, important questions arise about the nature of concepts and diagnoses in TEAM practice systems. They are not objective like biomedical constructs and diagnoses, nor are they clearly articulated and studied yet according to international standards.
