However, FS addition significantly decreased release of oxyanions As, Cr, and Se throughout the prolonged leaching time, indicating that FS addition could increase the likelihood of successful long-term disposal of S/S solids of concentrated FGD brines containing these heavy metal oxyanions. Subsequently, local governments have imposed bans and restrictions on pig production to control pollution, which has affected the supply of pork in the market. An emission trading system is an effective means to control the pollution of pig production. A Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) was used to evaluate the willingness of scale pig farmers to invest in biogas facilities under the emission trading system, and then, a regression model was constructed to analyze the feasibility of the emission trading system for pig farming pollution control. The empirical study found that the emission trading system can encourage scale pig farmers to use biogas fermentation to treat pollution and make environmental investments in recycling waste resources. There are many different formulations of this brand that differ from each other in glyphosate concentration, salts and adjuvants, including surfactants, which are labelled as "inert" compounds. Several studies have shown that these formulations are highly toxic to fish, even compared with pure glyphosate. However, mechanisms underlying this toxicity are not fully understood. In this context, this study evaluated the effects of exposure to Roundup Original® (RO), Roundup Transorb® (RT), and Roundup WG® (RWG) on the behavioural patterns of the livebearer Jenynsia multidentata. This fish naturally inhabits agricultural areas in southern Brazil and Argentina where glyphosate is used extensively. In the experiment, animals were exposed to the herbicides for 96 h, at the environmentally relevant concentration of 0.5 mg/L of glyphosate. Swimming performance, anxiety, aggressiveness, long-term memory and male sexual activity were recorded. The formulation RWG negatively affected swimming performance, thigmotaxia and long-term memory consolidation. Conversely, RT reduced the sexual performance of males. These results confirm that Roundup® formulations are extremely harmful and also that they have different targets of toxicity, affecting behaviours that are essential for fish survival.Trace metals have been found in sea turtle blood and tissues and may represent a threat to these endangered species. Essential trace metal (Cu, Zn Cd, Pb, As, and Hg) concentrations were determined in blood of adult female, post-nesting olive ridley turtles Lepidochelys olivacea (n = 35) on Ceuta beach, Sinaloa, Mexico. Essential metals (Zn and Cu) analyzed were found in higher concentrations than toxic metals (Cd and Pb), while As and Hg concentrations were below the limits of detection (0.01 μg g-1). Low Pb concentrations (0.09 μg g-1) were previously observed in sea turtles in the Gulf of California. There were no significant correlations found between curved carapace length (61.00-71.00 ± 2.29) vs metal concentrations (p > 0.05). We investigated the synergistic effects of plant-microbial treatment of shale gas fracturing waste fluid. The results showed that illumination wavelength and temperature are direct drivers for microbial treatment effects of CODCr and BOD5, while exhibit little effects on nitrogen compounds, TDS, EC, and SS removals as well as microbial species and composition. Plant-microbial synergism could significantly enhance the removal of pollutants compared with removal efficiency without plant enhancement. In the current study, we administered to younger adults and older adults a semantic working memory task, two word-span tasks and two reading comprehension tests (narrative and expository genre) to investigate the role of semantic knowledge during comprehension. In line with previous findings, we found that younger adults used flexibly either taxonomic or thematic knowledge, whereas the older adults mainly used thematic knowledge (better preserved from age-related decline). Originally, we found that in younger adults, thematic knowledge accounted for narrative text comprehension, whereas backward span performance accounted for expository text comprehension.
